In her youth, she trained rowing and successfully competed in single sculls, while she also spent her early childhood on a sailboat with her parents and started sailing on Optimist. She entered Olympics sailing through the big door, as a florist in a crew with helmswoman Tina Mrak, and more than successfully competed with her in two Olympic cycles, where they were in teh game for the medal right from the start. In Rio 2016 they finished a strong 6th place, while Tokyo 2020 ultimately brought them 5th place. Twice European champion (Aarhus 2015, Bourgas 2018), she has a bronze medal from the World Championships in Thessaloniki 2017. Veronika has been consistently at the top of the SSL crew member rankings for Slovenia.
